[PARIS] - 2006-09-07:
At a gathering of 18 of France's top banks and diverse banking press in Paris, Alain Sarraf EVP at Softpro presented Softpro's holistic approach to combatting check fraud. The event was co-sponsored by A2iA, the leader in cursive handwriting recognition and Softpro the world leader etc. The companies have recently teamed together to provide a unique approach to identifying fraud attempts. The banks met to learn about global trends in check fraud and specifically in countries such as the United states, UK, and France. The primary motivation for this meeting was to learn how the current fraud trends can be stemmed.
For example, according to french police reports, check fraud cases have increased by 85% between August 2005 and July 2006 in Paris alone. They also learned the motivation for perpetrating check fraud crimes, the low risk of being caught, and what types of institutions fraudsters are currently targeting. The participants were also presented with methods of automatically identifying and categorizing fraudulent check items in a pure image environment. All banks agreed that the problem of check fraud indeed exists in France and a lively exchange of ideas and information took place. Softpro is the recognized leader in check fraud prevention solutions.
The workshop was part of the colaboration of A2iA and Softpro to combat check fraud worldwide. The companies have pioneered a unique solution that is marketed globally under Softpro's FraudOne and SignPlus brands. The solution combines proven handwriting recognition, signature verification, and fraud detection technologies to create a holistic check fraud prevention solution for the world's financial institutions. FraudOne and SignPlus are available in six languages and on five continents: The Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia.
